The Beginning of Artevino

Maple Creek Winery and Ranch was founded by Tom Rodrigues, Artist and Renaissance man, in 2001. A leisurely motorcycle ride through the country, getting away from the hustle and bustle of the Bay area, brought Tom to the doorstep of Maple Creek ranch, so known by the creek which meanders through the property. He was immediately drawn in by the beauty of the rolling hills in the Yorkville Highlands of the Anderson Valley, with its lush vineyards, and perfect Mediterranean climate.

With his background, “Artevino” wine was born, the perfect marriage between his two passions: wine and art. Dedication to the grass-roots of old world style winemaking, paired with a focus on small batch production, has resulted in many award winning wines under the “Artevino” label.

Our Pledge to You

It’s our privilege and our promise.

The Artevino Team

Tom Rodrigues

Winemaker | Glass Artist | Painter

“My approach to all things in life is to take on challenge – to invest the time to learn the craft.”

Tom Rodrigues has been creating iconic and renowned art in multiple mediums for over 50 years. He started his stain glass artistry before graduating high school, creating commissions in the Art Nouveau style. His work is visible in homes across the Bay Area, including “Skywalker Ranch”, where Tom was the designer and production manager in the Skywalker glass studio.

Tom has another passion… a love for baseball. His portrait of Cool “Papa” Bell hangs in The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown New York.

In 2018, Tom was named Artist of the Year for the Mendocino County Wine Song event. His love of wine led him to label design. Tom teamed up with Gil and Beth Nickel to produce the new iconic Far Niente label and continued with several more including Dolce, Nickel and Nickel, and En Route.

In 2001 Tom expanded to winemaking when he purchased Maple Creek Winery in the Anderson Valley, in Mendocino County. Artevino Wine was born.

He continues to live his life through his passion.

Teresa Rodrigues

Marketing & Sales

Teresa Rodrigues was born in Ottawa, Canada.

Over the past 4 decades she has had multiple careers including Real Estate, Journalism and Nursing. She’s a Gemini go figure!

As partner to vintner Tom Rodrigues, she brings her enthusiasm to this new endeavor. Teresa heads up the administrative side of Maple Creek Winery and joins Tom in the day to day operations of artisanal winemaking.

She likes to get her hands into the meat of things, literally, immersing herself in ranch life, including tending to the pigs, goats and chickens on the property.

Cooking is her passion, she is a graduate of the CordonBleu. She incorporates the farm to table way of life at Maple Creek Winery with wine pairings, and culinary adventures.

Quality over Quantity is her mantra…..and of course, “Life is too short to drink bad wine.”
